From Feuds to Fun:
Transforming Family Patterns During the Holidays
December 11, 2012
10:00 am to 4:00 pm
at Freedom Project Office
3826 Woodlawn Park Ave N #200, Seattle WA
The Holidays are a time of social gatherings, memories, and yes, sometimes family stressors. Kathleen Macferran, a certified Nonviolent Communication trainer will be teaching a workshop about preparing for the challenges with a workshop taught within the Nonviolent Communication (NVC) framework. It will be held at the Freedom Project Office on November 12, 2012, and those interested are cordially invited to register by emailing nvc@freedom-project.org or call the Freedom Project Office at 206-325-5678.
Participants will explore these issues: What do I want in my family connections? How can I create new patterns that will bring more ease and joy? How does one discover the path to connection in the midst of conflict? How do I keep myself centered when challenged? How to I inspire another family member to want connection with me?
This workshop supports the work of Freedom Project inside four Washington State prisons. The Freedom Project is a nonprofit organization including men and women from diverse backgrounds and races sharing a common dream to strengthen our community by supporting the transformation of prisoners into peacemakers. Volunteers represent both victims and perpetrators of crime, and together offer collective experience within prison systems that spans many decades. The Freedom Project is committed to the practice of nonviolence in all daily interactions.
NVC is a practical, learnable process for communicating with empathy, honesty, power and compassion. It integrates personal development with social change. The purpose of NVC is to ensure everyone’s needs are valued equally and fulfilled in ways that contribute to connection, harmony and peace.
For the December 12 workshop, participants must be 18 and older.Limited to 25 participants. More information about Freedom Project: http://www.freedom-project.org/
