Join us if you’re wondering:
- What is Beloved Community and what processes support and sustain it?
- How does the history of Nonviolence and Nonviolent Communication guide our understanding of community strength and offer us skills to sustain communities?
- What is the role of individuals within Beloved Community and how do we hold both collective and individual well-being?
- How can we see the system and group dynamics that are often invisible to many? What are the impacts of different kinds of power? How can we collectively understand and acknowledge what is going on?
- What are the differences in terminology like bias, prejudice, discrimination, rank, power, privilege, cultural diversity, social location and intersectionality? Why does it matter if we share a common understanding?
There will also be plenty of scope for reflection and questioning based on participants’ own experiences.
We’ll be exploring these questions based on our experiences from the collectives, communities and organizations in which we work.
Together, we will:
- Recognize the key factors that contribute to community flourishing and ways to influence and/or co-create systems that support the well-being of everyone.
- Discover what lies at the crossroads of systemic norms and individual actions.
- Become aware of the power we personally have to influence systems.
- Identify the inner resources we want to cultivate so that we can put our gifts to full use in the service of our communities..
- Explore how to talk about power, influence, privilege, choice and resources in a way that includes and values all voices.
This interactive, experiential workshop will provide you with concrete ideas for reflection and action.
