Strength of Connection : Creating Connections for Change

Trainer Candidate Community Program (TCCP)

With Kathleen Macferran, CNVC Trainer Candidate Assessor

The following proposal is offered in the spirit of service to the spread of NVC globally. It’s my attempt to meet the needs for integrity in the living and sharing of NVC; clarity about what I can offer with joy; effectiveness of training by the integration of NVC into personal, interpersonal and social arenas; and sustainability of community that can work together and support each other. I hold a vision that those of us sharing NVC will provide companionship to each other on our common journey. That companionship includes working together to create/sustain life serving social structures, sharing authentically with each other (empathic support as well as honesty at our edges), learning together and experiencing relationships of shared power.

Nonviolent Communication Trainer ProgramWho is this program for?

This program is for CNVC trainer candidates who would like to walk the certification path in community, with a clear structure (designed by individual candidates and Kathleen that would include individual work, work with two other certified trainers and the Trainer Candidate Community Program), and who are interested in the areas of building sustainable community and restorative justice.

Trainer Candidate Community Program:

Intention: The focus of this program is learning and living NVC in community. The vision I hold is that four weekends a year the candidate group will gather together to co-create a community that lives in empathic-honest relationship, that is passionate about self-discovery/connection, and functions interdependently and powerfully. I envision a powerful candidate community that can live the NVC process together and receive/provide all possible support available to learn and grow in NVC consciousness and the sharing of it. I envision a lifetime community that lives and breathes the life-sustaining guiding principles of NVC.  I invite all TCCP participants to share with each other honestly and transparently: How do we experience each other showing up? Do we have a sense that each of us knows our gifts and our learning edges?  Are we making requests for growth and support that will lead to our living and sharing NVC with the greatest sense of integrity we can access?

We are all longing to go home

to some place we have never been —

a place half-remembered and half-envisioned

we can only catch glimpses of

from time to time.

Community

Somewhere, there are people

to whom we can speak with passion

without having the words catch in our throats.

Somewhere a circle of hands will open to receive us,

eyes will light up as we enter, voices will celebrate with us

whenever we come into our own power.

Community means strength that joins our strength

to do the work that needs to be done.

Arms to hold us when we falter.

A circle of healing.  A circle of friends.

Someplace where

we can be free.

- Starhawk

(For more information about Freedom project, go tohttp://www.freedom-project.org).

*Timelines:

The pacing/timing of certification is an individual process. The proposal outlined here is what I would like to offer candidates who may be about a year away from certification. Each candidate’s situation will be looked at individually. It is the structure rather than the timeline of how I’d like to work with candidates that I offer here.

Kathleen’s request to trainer candidates for financial support:

To remain in consistency and integrity with my understanding of NVC principles, I’d like mutuality in relationship with the trainer candidates who choose to work with me. That will include a request for financial contribution to support me in sharing NVC in a way that is sustainable. As with any other NVC training I do, I’m completely clear I do not want anyone denied access to NVC training for financial reasons. I’ll be happy to dialog with any candidate who isn’t comfortable with the following sliding scale:

Weekend retreats                                                            $100-200 each

Private coaching and/or training design sessions            $40-60 /hr

Trainings inside prison (pd to lead trainer)                        $50-100 each

The Trainer Candidate Community Program fee requests above will be in addition to the assessment fee requests provided by CNVC:

Application to register as a candidate                   $75 – $125

Video preview (if required)                                      $50 – $100

Pre-assessment fee                                                 $250 – $400

Assessment fee                                                        $250 – $400
